The LORD Himself is speaking in answer to ‘Whom shall I send, who will go for Us?’ The number now changes from the singular to the plural. This indicates the Trinity in the Godhead.

Many refer to this as the Plural of Respect.Pro 9:10 The fear of Jehovah is the beginning of wisdom; and the knowledge of the holy is understanding. Barnes Notes “The holy – The word in the Hebrew is plural, agreeing, probably, with אלהים ‘elohı̂ym understood (so in Pro_30:3). The knowledge of the Most Holy Ones. cp. Prov 30:3. This is know as the Pluralis Excellentice, the Plural of majesty or Honour which refers to Kings or princes.
In Pular a grandfather is called Baaba’en (plural of respect). cp. Elohim pl. = God

Barnes Notes, ” This denotes hardness of heart and blindness of mind. Though hearing the prophets words they would not understand him. They were obstinately bent on Iniquity. They would neither believe nor even regard what he had to say.

Mat 13:16 But blessed are your eyes, for they see; and your ears, for they hear.
They saw Jesus Miracles which shows He was sent from God to be their Messiah. He fulfilled all the Messianic prophecies of the OT. They REFUSED to Believe. and did not Perceive and understand.
APPLICATION. We must be careful that this doesn’t happen in our day. God never forces people to accept His salvation which He offers freely.
