Isaiah 1:19-20 Principles of God’s Kingdom

Isa 1:19 If you are willing and obedient, you will eat the best from the land.
Isa 1:20 But if you refuse and rebel, you will be destroyed by swords.” The LORD has spoken.


 If you are willing….. If you submit your will and become voluntary in your obedience to my Law. “If ye then shall willingly hear, ye shall eat the good of the land;

and Willingly obedient – Hebrew…”if you willingly listen and hear; i.e. to my commands…

The direct result will be “you will eat the best from the land. ” There will be raised up for you abundant harvests. You will be saved from pestilence, war, and famine. Your crops will not be devoured by your enemies. Is 1:7 compare Isaiah 65 :21-23

Isa 65:21 They will build houses and live there. They will plant vineyards and eat fruit from them.
Isa 65:22 They will not build homes and have others live there. They will not plant and have others eat from it. My people will live as long as trees, and my chosen ones will enjoy what they’ve done.

This was all in accordance with God’s Promises to the Patriarchs as the motive of obedience and listening was placed before them.

 to Moses Exo 3:8 I have come to rescue them from the power of the Egyptians and to bring them from that land to a good land with plenty of room for everyone. It is a land flowing with milk and honey where the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites live. also v.17 and Exodus 13:5 Deut 28:1-9

Isa 1:20 But if you refuse and rebel, you will be destroyed by swords.” The LORD has spoken.

If you Defy the LORD you are doomed. If people persevere in rebelling against God, they shall be destroyed. “Devoured by the sword.” This is just as if the sword is insatiable for destruction.

Isa 5:24 As flames burn up straw and dry grass shrivels in flames, so their roots will rot, and their blossoms will blow away like dust. They have rejected the teachings of the LORD of Armies and have despised the word of the Holy One of Israel.

The Mouth of Yahweh has spoken.   On all these points God was reasoning with them, proving to them that these Great Principles of His Government were RIGHT. 

If you obey God you will prosper; but if not, you will be punished. People know that these principles are just and true. People see them illustrated everywhere in their lives.
