Isa 1:9 Except Jehovah of Hosts had left us a very small remnant, we would be as Sodom; we would be like Gomorrah.
Isa 1:10 Hear the Word of Jehovah, rulers of Sodom; give ear to the Law of our God, people of Gomorrah.
Notes: Isaiah now reminds the Nations of Judah and Jerusalem that they only survived because the LORD of Saboath or Yahweh of Hosts had left them a Remnant. Otherwise they would have been completely destroyed like Sodom and Gomorrah. Genesis 19.
V.10. Hear the Word of Jehovah, rulers of Sodom; give ear to the Law of our God, people of Gomorrah.
Notes : He actually calls them ‘rulers of Sodom’ and ‘people of Gomorrah’. They were just as wicked as the people of the Plain of the Dead sea.

- Their having a remnant left was entirely due to the mercy of God. Paul even uses this passage to argue for Divine Sovereignty.
Rom 9:29 And as Isaiah said before, “Unless the Lord of hosts had left us a seed, we would have been as Sodom, and would have been like Gomorrah.”
Rom 9:30 What shall we say then? That the nations, who did not follow after righteousness have taken on righteousness, but a righteousness of faith.
Rom 9:31 But Israel, who followed after a law of righteousness did not arrive at a law of righteousness.
2) The LORD Almighty in v.9. is really [Yahweh Tseboath] =the LORD of the Armies or the Military Hosts of Heaven. It is applied to the a’Angels’ who surround the Throne of God.
1Ki 22:19 And he said, Hear therefore the Word of Jehovah: I saw Jehovah sitting on His throne, and all the host of heaven standing by Him on His right hand and on His left.
Isa 40:26 Lift up your eyes on high, and behold, who has created these, who brings out their host by number? He calls them all by names by the greatness of His might, for He is strong in power; not one is lacking.
Jer 33:22 As the host of the heavens cannot be numbered, nor the sand of the sea measured, so I will multiply the seed of David My servant and the Levites who minister to Me.
3.)’The Yahweh of Hosts’ is His name because He is the Head of the Armies of Heaven – He marshals and directs them. This is the most Common name for God in Isaiah, Jeremiah, Zachariah and Malachi.
Left us a small remnant. God left them a small portion remaining. Otherwise they would have been completely overwhelmed. Completely and finally ruined like the “Cities of the plain” no one remains of them to this day.
